With three translated volumes to the dynasty, a fourth published this autumn, I was nonplussed to read Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan Novels. I am a slow reader, daunted by pages on pages of commitment. But after so many recommendations I broke, and thank goodness.
Ferrante reads like a brilliant American HBO tv series - multi layered, enticing, sexy, threatening, exciting - you don't have to wait for the next week's episode, it's there right in front of you on paper.
The Story of the Lost Child, the fourth and final novel is published in September 2015.
