Ann Goldstein in conversation with Eileen Battersby

Ann Goldstein is an editor at The New Yorker . She has translated works by, among others, Elena Ferrante, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Giacomo Leopardi, and Alessandro Baricco, and is the editor of the Complete Works of Primo Levi in English. She has been the recipient of the PEN Renato Poggioli prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and awards from the Italian Foreign Ministry and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. She will talk about translating from Italian, with particular reference to Primo Levi.

Eileen Battersby is a writer, a critic, and the Irish Times literary correspondent. She has written about all aspects of the arts, particularly classical music and literature, as well as archaeology, historical geography and architectural history and has championed fiction in translation.

Four times winner of the Arts Journalist of the Year award, she has recently won the Critic of the Year.
